More than 165 Latino leaders, advocates, and community members from across Kansas gathered Monday March 3, at the State Capitol for All Latinos At the Capitol, a landmark event that highlighted the growing influence and unity of the Latino community in the state.
The daylong event, organized by the Kansas Latino Community Network with support from various Latino organizations, was designed to promote civic engagement and celebrate Latino leadership. Attendees participated in workshops, legislative discussions, and tours to learn more about Kansas's legislative process and history.
“The turnout was incredible and a powerful reminder of the strength and determination of the Latino community in Kansas,” said Audé Negrete, Executive Director of the Kansas Latino Community Network. “Our goal was to not only celebrate Latino leadership but also to ensure that our voices are heard in the legislative process. We are excited to build on this momentum and continue advocating for and uplift our community.”
Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to engage directly with lawmakers, network with fellow advocates, and gain valuable insights into how to navigate and influence the political system.
Organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and partner organizations who made the event a success. They also announced that planning is already underway for future gatherings aimed at continuing to empower and strengthen Latino communities across Kansas.
The event marked a significant step forward in mobilizing Latino Kansans to take active roles in shaping the policies that affect their communities.
