Hispanic Heritage Month is observed each year in the United States from September 15 to October 15. It is a month that has been designated to thank and celebrate the contributions of our Latino community in this country.
This year, during the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Planeta Venus invited Latino students from North High School to participate in the bilingual writing contest with the theme "Being Hispanic/Latino for me means..."
We received almost a dozen essays, which were graded by judges with experience in the area of communications.
On November 8th we met with the three finalists to announce the winners.
The Principal along with other teachers and members of the educational institution were present. We read aloud some comments from the judges and presented the awards to the winners with a formal invitation to visit our office and to continue collaborating with us.
The winners were:
1st Place: David Murillo
2nd Place: Yaretzi Parga
3rd Place: Amiya Hood
We want to thank and congratulate everyone who submitted their essays and we hope to meet you all very soon. Their stories moved us and filled us with pride.
Congratulations to all! and thank you for being part of #PlanetaVenus' dream of creating more artistic, social, and educational spaces for our Latino community.
